Thanks Jo – that was the best birthday party. You did a fabulous job. The kids were so engaged and really enjoyed the whole thing. It is quite the buzz. The children of the superintendent of our school district were there (the boy was the lion and the girl was one of your winkies) and their mom stayed and watched it and she is a teacher in Louisburg. They were very impressed as was everyone.

Dear Joho, Thank you so much for telling us story's about the swamp. My favorite was the one were the dog teased the alligator. I wish I could have gone the there and taken the swamp ride. I especially wish I could have been on the swamp ride when the alligator jumped on the boat. Sincerely, Eric

From the Derby Reporter, by Karen Faley: A good storyteller can seduce the most reluctant listener. That’s just what Jo Ho the storyteller was able to do one afternoon last week at Tanglewood Elementary. Even the sophisticated preteen boys sitting way in the back were reduced to giggles and in the end, Jo Ho even got them to participate in the stories. And throughout the stories, she gave children in the audience hand motions they could do to participate in the story and even called children from the audience up in front of the crowd to act out the stories with her. Jo has appeared before in Derby, said Carri Fry, Derby Public Library children’s services coordinator. “She’s amazing,” she said. “She’s a very good storyteller.”

As we developed the three part residency you shared here in Glasco and Miltonvale, we thought it was a good design. The actual events exceeded my expectations! The faculty response was 100% positive. Their comments included admiration for your ability to connect with kindergarten through sixth grade students in the same program, never losing the attention of any students! They found your connection with the students the best of any storyteller we have had. The fact that students who were not accompanied by parents for the afterschool family story workshop came alone just because they wanted to continue working with you is perhaps the strongest statement of appreciation possible. I hope we are able to continue to develop programs with you that meet the interest and needs of our students!

We really enjoyed your storytelling at our summer reading program. Parents have commented on how much they and their children liked the stories and the interactive feature. Many went home and retold the tales to family members who did not attend. They’re hoping that you will come back for another performance soon!
